Brown Basmati keeps the bran and germ that white milling removes, so it delivers considerably more dietary fibre, magnesium and B vitamins. Expect a nutty flavour, a chewier bite and a longer cook time - around 35 to 40 minutes. A staple for households managing blood sugar or simply eating more whole grains.
Cooking
Rinse two to three times until the water runs clear, then soak for 20-30 minutes. Use a 1 : 1.5 rice-to-water ratio for white basmati and 1 : 2 for brown rice. Bring to a boil, then reduce to the lowest heat, cover and leave undisturbed for 12-15 minutes. Rest off the heat for five minutes before fluffing with a fork.
Storage
Keep the pack sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, transfer to an airtight container. Stored correctly, our rice keeps its aroma for 12 months and remains safe to eat well beyond that.
